So What Is A Job Shadow, Anyway?

​

A job shadow is a short-term experience to introduce a student to a particular career choice by pairing them with an employee in a work environment. The student follows or “shadows” the worker for the specified time to better understand the requirements of a particular career. It works best if the student prepares questions to ask the professional as in an informational interview. Being genuinely curious and working hard to prepare good, relevant questions can make a BIG impression that can lead to more opportunities to learn.

For help with arranging an in-person job shadow, you may see Ms. Kleffman or Ms. Brackett for specific instructions, or if you know a professional within your area of interest, you may get in touch with them and ask if you may shadow them for a day.

 

Remember, you need parent permission and specific forms in order to be released for a job shadow, so please see Ms. Kleffman or Ms. Brackett before you head out.
